Parentage Actions

Parentage cases are also known as “paternity cases.” They occur when a child is born to an unmarried couple and a parent desires to establish the child’s parental relationships. However, they often go much further than merely establishing legal rights to a child. They also address issues such as child support, custody, and parenting time as well. The Court recognizes that parents have rights and responsibilities with regard to their child.

The Court and J.E.A. Family Law will always have the best interests of the child in mind when dealing with these types of cases. As a parent, you will want to show that it is for the child’s benefit that parentage is established, or not established, as the case may be.

J.E.A. Family Law will help you work through these cases by developing a strategy that will work best for your situation. If you are considering this type of legal action, contact our office to learn how we can help.
